A new concrete slab in Florida averages $5.90–$6.60 per square foot, according to Angi's concrete slab cost guide (April 2026). Angi's Orlando guide puts Central Florida slabs at $4–$8 per square foot, with most projects at $3,650–$7,301 (April 2026).

Below, you'll find what the common sizes work out to, why thickness moves the number, and what else ends up in a slab quote. Looking for someone to pour it? See our concrete slab page.

How to read the table. Angi gives one average per size for Orlando, which is about 70 miles from Melbourne. HomeGuide gives a range for the whole U.S. No major cost guide publishes slab prices for Melbourne or Brevard County. We don't blend the two sources. Neither lists a 12x16 or a 40x60, so the sections below do that math and say so.
How much should a 20x20 concrete slab cost?
A 20x20 slab is 400 square feet. Angi's Orlando guide puts the average at $2,400 (April 2026). HomeGuide's national range is $2,400–$4,800 (February 2026).
The low end is a plain slab on flat, open ground. Fill, tear-out, a thicker slab or a backyard the truck can't reach push it up.
Pouring a 20x20 driveway instead? Our driveway cost guide has its own 20x20 math.
How much should a 12x16 concrete slab cost?
A 12x16 slab is 192 square feet. No major cost guide lists this size, so here's our arithmetic: about $768–$1,536 at Angi's Central Florida rate of $4–$8 per square foot, or about $1,152–$2,304 at HomeGuide's national rate of $6–$12.
That's square footage times a published rate, not a published price. Use it as a starting point for a shed pad, not as a quote.
How much to pour a 30x30 concrete slab?
A 30x30 slab is 900 square feet. Angi's Orlando guide puts the average at $5,500 (April 2026). HomeGuide's national range is $5,400–$10,800 (February 2026).
Pricing a 30x30 slab 4 inches thick? HomeGuide puts a 4-inch slab at $6–$8 per square foot installed. At 900 square feet, that's about $5,400–$7,200 (our arithmetic).
How much does it cost to pour a 40x60 concrete slab?
A 40x60 slab is 2,400 square feet, bigger than any size the major cost guides list. Our arithmetic: about $9,600–$19,200 at Angi's Central Florida rate of $4–$8 per square foot, or about $14,400–$28,800 at HomeGuide's national rate of $6–$12.
Treat both as rough. HomeGuide's biggest listed size is 40x40, and it notes that "large slabs and foundations may need additional reinforcement, like wire mesh, steel rebar, foam insulation, a vapor barrier, or thicker edges." Anything like that is added on top, so the rate may not scale straight up to 2,400 square feet.

How do you estimate a slab size that isn't listed?
You can do the same math yourself:
- Measure. Multiply the length by the width in feet. A 14x20 slab is 280 square feet.
- Multiply by one published rate. At Angi's Central Florida $4–$8 per square foot, 280 square feet is about $1,120–$2,240 (our arithmetic).
- Add what your site needs. Fill, tear-out, reinforcement and a permit all come on top.
That gives you a ballpark to hold a quote against. It isn't a price.
What is the typical cost of a concrete slab in Melbourne, FL?
No major cost guide publishes a slab price for Melbourne, Florida or Brevard County. The closest figures are Angi's: $4–$8 per square foot in Orlando, with most projects at $3,650–$7,301, and a Florida average of $5.90–$6.60 per square foot (April 2026).
Where a Brevard slab lands in that range comes down to the job and the site. The sand has to be compacted into a firm base before the pour, the truck has to get close enough, and any old concrete has to come out first.
Does a thicker slab cost more?
Yes. As Angi's Orlando guide puts it, "thicker slabs use more concrete per square foot, requiring more materials and labor to pour." HomeGuide's national prices, installed:
| Thickness | Price per sq ft (HomeGuide, national, Feb 2026) |
|---|---|
| 4 inches | $6–$8 |
| 6 inches | $8–$10 |

The right thickness depends on what will sit on the slab. A shed pad and a pad for a heavy RV aren't the same slab. We don't work from a set thickness or steel spec. If you already know what you want, tell us, and we'll write it into your quote.
Before you hire anyone, ask how they'll handle the base, the thickness and the steel.
What else goes into a slab price?
- Site prep. Clearing, fill and grading come before any concrete.
- Tear-out. If an old slab has to come out, removal and haul-off are added. Our driveway cost guide shows what that adds on a driveway.
- Access. How close the truck can get to the pour.
- Reinforcement. Steel or other reinforcement, when the job calls for it.
- Finish. A plain broom finish is the low end. A pattern costs more; see stamped concrete.
- Permits. Some slabs need one. In West Melbourne, "Driveways / Pavers/Patio Concrete Slabs" is a listed permit project type (Building Department Forms, checked September 26, 2026). Other cities set their own rules, and our permit guide covers driveways across Brevard. If your job needs a permit, we handle getting it.
Holding a quote? Our concrete cost overview shows how to check it against these ranges, and our guide to choosing a concrete contractor in Brevard covers what to ask. If your old slab sank or cracked, it may only need leveling or repair.
